Key Attributes

• Zero contact measurement through polyurethane tubing.

• Utilizes one Red and one IR LED + photodiode to measure change in oxygen concentration; actuation/measurement through NI DAQ and MATLAB.

• Designed all electrical and mechanical layouts/components + code.

Challenges:

• Calibration; took ratio of ratios from measurements (Red/Redbase)/(IR/IRbase) and applied to a curve.

• Used a first-order curve based on Beer-Lambert, however precision over a large range was limited.

• Need to use blood-gas analyzer over many data points and apply a polynomial curve.
